ok so im pretty straight forward when buying jeans, no wait that's a blatant lie because im kind of anal. but when going online to buy a pair of jeans it shouldn't be that hard. to me the process should go like this...
for this performance i would like the website to be levis.com, this is a total act of fiction (the real version comes later) and this is what i would have liked to have happened

website - great we have plenty of 501 jeans. would you like any specific type. yes i know that when you say you want a pair of 501's you think there is only one kind but in fact we have over 20 types of that one style and thats only the 20 we have in stock right now. by the end of the month it will be about 629 different types of that one style.
me - ummmm ok that's great and all but i was just looking for your standard 501's you know the kind iv been wearing since i was a kid.
website - ok we have plenty of those what size and color would you like.
me - ummmm how about XXxXX in the color white
website - ok that's an odd request but we have that and would be glad to ship it to you in a timely manner
me - yeay that was easy

now how hard would that be to pull off???? i have gone into countless stores to buy my Levi's. while they might not have the large selection of Levis.com its pretty straight forward when you walk in, walk to the wall with the Levi's, find the style you want, then the color, and last see if they have it in your size. in the end (and with a trip to the fitting room or 2) you walk out with what you need. i think that buying jeans online should be just like that.
now im going to go smoke a cig because its 2:30 am and im going to try to explain the hell on earth that is trying to find a pair of jeans on Levis.com which will be the same pair of white 501's.
