I was wondering if anyone has experience with the 514 model. After having looked at pictures of this cut, it very much reminds me of the 505s from the 90ies. It looks more like a regular fit to me, it seems LS&Co goes very much for the loose fit, as the current 505s look very loose to me. Can the 514s be worn at the regular waist, I wouldn't like them below waist?

Hey Klaus. I've never had a pair of 514, but I've had a few 527s which are supposedly the same cut, with a boot leg (i'm sure you already know this). Anyhow, I've found the fit to be incredibly inconsistent from pair to pair, but they pretty much all sit relatively low, but not as low as 511s. Here's a pic of me wearing some 527s (waist 30). This picture was taken around 2007ish.

Ian, thanks for your reply. From the picture and your comment realize that this cut is not the one I'd like to wear. Nowadays I prefer regular fit jeans as the 501 has a too straight leg and tends to untuck the shirt when sqatting down as the waist seems too low (at least on the backside). The former 505 cut was to my liking, but the current 505s seem to be very loose, and the back pockets are just horrible. I bought 1987 505s NWT on ebay last week, but the seller accidentally sent me Levi's Signature jeans (luckily in the same size!). They are regular fit and with the exception of slighty longer back pockets, they are perfect. As far as I know, the Signature line is a collection of cheaper jeans sold in supermarkets, but the jeans I received look decent in quality. I understand that regular fit jeans are often referred to as "square", as they are worn by men who have become husbands and fathers and have lost their "wild side". All I know is that this cut fits my body best, as the straight on the hip 501 and 517 style is not the most comfortable on an athletic body.
