I just looked at 'JEANS PLUS' site from the uk. the old Bill style, 501s look exactly like my 80's & 90's prewashed 501's, also like the 501 stf's I have from back in the day. The cost seems to be about $120.00 to $140.00 to ship here. Has anyone bought a pair of these? I'd like to know how they fit before I send for a pair. I think the pictures of the wear lines look like the old 501s, also, the seat and front fly looks right. I wonder if someone in the UK bought the patterns and sewing and stamping machines from Texas, when they closed their last plants in USA?

That makes sense Klaus, because the pressure of cutting through that many pieces of cloth would squish some out of true alignment.

I know in the past levi's (and other brands of course) have sold jeans that have a twisted leg on purpose so that it would counter act the natural twist that happens when you wear pants. Anyone had experience wearing these?

The twisted legs come from the way the many layers of denim are cut. They used 60 layers of denim in the late 80ies, I don't know if that's still the same. The layers on the bottom tend to twist/push sideways with the result being uneven legs. My girlfriend is a tailor and gave me a quick explanation, I will post again when having more details.

I haven't come across that yet but it's a great thing to look out for, thanks for the reminder! My experience with online stores has been great so far, and I have heard that most honor returns without questions. I agree the selection and cost are hard to pass up, especially if you already know what size you want and can skip trying them on in a store for that reason.

Eric, I had the same problem about the twisting seams. On 501s, 517s, bought from Sheplers or ebay. I think it comes down to bad luck. You guys in the U.S. may return the jeans if they are faulty, which would be the best thing to do.

I have a question for all the guys who buy their STF's from Web merchants. Do you find the quality of the jeans to be fairly good when they arrive? I ask because whenever I shop for STF at my local JCP, Kohls, Fred Meyer, etc., I have learned to check every pair they have in my size by holding them up to inspect the legs. I do this because so often the leg seams are sewn crooked on one or both legs. I first discovered this a few years back when a friend asked why the seam on one leg twisted to the front of my leg, ending on top of the laces of my tennis shoes. I went home, took 'em off and realized how poorly sewn that pair was. One leg with nice straight seams while the other had the inside seam visibly twisting towards the front, the outside twisting around back respectively. This is one reason I'm very hesitant to buy online, even though price and selection are sometimes so good. Have you guys found your STF from web stores to be sewn well and without visual flaws? And if so...which stores shipped their STF with flaws and which didn't. Thanks

yeah, Steve has also recommended Bargains Avenue before. If you follow them I think you'll see they'll have sales and package deals every so often as well. Thanks for the reminder, Klaus!

There seem to be grey STFs out there. Nothing on LS&Co's website, though. The colour code is 501-0542 and they are sold here:
