Welcome to the help section!

Here's a general overview of the forum:

This forum is divided into Forums, Topics, and Posts. For example, This is the first post, in the "Help: Howto Use this Forum" topic, in the "Miscellaneous" Forum. Additionally, this is a "Sticky" post which means it will always show up at the top of this forum, even after it is quite old. That way, you will always know where to find the help post.

In order to reply to posts, you need to register. After you have registered and logged in, you can click your name in the upper right to view and edit you profile and settings.

From the forums page, you can see all the latest discussions and click to go directly to the posts in the topics that interest you. If you do this, you will see -- if you are logged in -- a box where you can respond to the topic. Also from the forums page, you will see the list of forums on the right hand side. If you click one you should see -- if you are logged in -- a form for creating a new topic in that forum.

There are a couple options you have to make you posts' look more expressive. The buttons at the top of this box can be used to style, insert links, insert images and add smilies to your posts <img src="http://forums.nedsferatu.com/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

Please feel free to respond with questions specifically about using this forum. Thanks!

I recently made a simple tool to help folks buy the right size of of Levi’s 501xx Shrink to Fit Jeans. It includes a form that takes two numbers as inputs then performs some logic and returns the results on the same page. It was surprisingly easy to do but took me a surprisingly long time to figure out so I hope this explanation of how I did it will be helpful for others!

Discussion for the article Adding Google Adsense Custom Search to Wordpress. From the Post:

So, Adsense has a newish custom search tool for adding to your sites which I rather like. It is flexible and can be embedded easier than the previous searches. The major benefit is the ability to have the search results display on a results page of your choice rather than a standard full page Google-looking results page. This of course means seemless integration with your theme and generally better user experience.

For more see the full article!

Hi, I'm glad you've come to check out the forum!

To begin participating, please register here which is a quick and easy process. I have included the terms of service below that you agree to by registering; it should be natural and no problem for you to follow and is more a way of to keep things from getting out of hand than a strict rule book.

After you register, you may want to head over to the Welcome! Introduce Yourself! forum and write us a post sharing a bit about yourself. You'll find that the people here are quite friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable!

This forum developed out of the comments on the 501 Shrink to Fit articles. There really began to develop a sense of community among the folks who regularly comment there so a forum was a natural progression to help that community grow.

If you are having technical issues with the blog or with the forum, please make a post in the miscellaneous section with a description of what's going on.

If you are looking for some help and guidance on using this forum software check out the Help: Howto Use this Forum post.

Terms of Service:

I have no doubt that you will use this forum for civilized and fruitful discussions! However these are great general rules that it's best to know up front I will be expecting from all members.

No swearing.

No ALL CAPS!

Please do your research before responding to factual posts. If you are refuting particular facts, please supply links to reputable sources.

Please do not respond to a post when you are angry -- take 10 minutes, figure out what is really bothering you, and then respond if you must.

Passive aggressive posts are strongly discouraged. If you don't know what passive aggression is, please research the term before posting.

Please respect your feelings. If you find that a thread is becoming unpleasant, please disengage. If you feel your temper rising with someone, please stop responding to him. Anger and escalation will never lead us to the truth. The truth can only result from a positive and challenging mutual exploration of facts and principles. Escalation is the responsibility of both parties.

Please avoid Internet courage. Before posting, try to imagine speaking the words you are typing directly to the person, as if he were standing right in front of you. Also imagine that he is very large.

I will work hard to ensure this is a place that is fun and helpful to use and I hope you will do the same. Talk to you soon!
